“Transcendence”is a piece that took over 20 hours to complete, and it is certainly one close to my heart because it describes the features of an African woman. It stemmed out of Fagbemi reading a Women Matter Africa Report, and realizing that an African woman tries twice as hard to become phenomenal. They transcend the norm.
Adinkra symbols were used in this piece to outline some characteristics of the African woman.
