Miami reopens the Bass for its 16th Edition of Art Basel

The 16th edition of Art Basel Miami features 268 leading international galleries from 32 countries across the Americas, Africa, Asia, Europe and the Middle East. Taking place from December 7 to December 10, 2017 at the Miami Beach Convention Center.

In the Positions sector which allows curators, critics, collectors and visitors to discover new talents from across the globe by providing a platform for galleries to present one major project by a single artist. Here are some young artists you need to keep your eyes peeled out for:

1. Jibade-Khalil Huffman

Huffman will present a new body of work at Anat Ebgi Gallery that focuses on the black male figure in art history, film and literature.

2. Jamal Cyrus

Cyrus will explore the cultural politics of Black American music and the civil rights movement of the 1960s and 1970s at Inman Gallery.

It wouldn't be art if political and social issues were not the generic conversation. This year David Castillo gallery has chosen for its Nova sector three key artists who will be addressing representations of race, sexuality and gender in today's socio-political climate:

Occurring alongside the Art Basel fairs in Miami Beach and Basel, Design Miami has become the premier venue for collecting, exhibiting, discussing and creating collectible design. In its 13th edition, Design Miami will take place from December 6 to 10, 2017 at Meridian Avenue and 19th Street in Miami Beach, opposite to the Miami Beach Convention Center.
